In the first part of this first contact with the Opel Meriva We have seen how it behaves and how it goes its 1.7 hp 130 CDTI diesel engine, being the most powerful variant available in the diesel range. The engine stands out above all for its strength and power delivery, it is a high-performance engine, although the Meriva's vocation is quieter and oriented towards comfort.

Everything related to design We have already seen it in the test we did a year ago of the Meriva equipped with the 120 HP gasoline engine., precisely the interior space is one of the most important features of this compact MPV.

It has Enough space for five adults, it has rear seats that have independent adjustment with which we can gain space in the trunk or in the back, it also has the peculiarity of the doors that open in the opposite direction to the direction of travel.

Esto It allows us better access for an elderly person or makes it easier for us to place a child seat. in the rear seats. It also has a Practical central rail with several levels where we have cup holders, a central storage box with a large glove compartment, and we can even fit a 1.5 litre bottle in the central compartment. You can see all this in detail in the previous test of the model.

Our unit was a Cosmo finish, So everything related to safety equipment and standard elements we have already seen in the previous test of the Meriva. But our unit had a peculiarity that the previous model tested did not have: the Flex-Fix system, i.e. the bicycle carrier system hidden in the rear bumper.

It stands out for its easy assembly, By simply lifting a lever in the trunk, the system is deployed. Then we mount the bike holders, lift the license plate and place the headlights on the sides. In a few minutes, everything is fully assembled.

Another detail of that we liked are the lights, Although they are not xenon, yes are addressable and therefore offer good illumination on bends and in difficult areas where visibility is not very good. Otherwise, the standard equipment is quite complete and the operation of the different elements is correct.

The first time we tried the Meriva We liked it for the practicality it offered both inside and for the practicality provided by the rear-facing doors. But petrol engines were not the best option for this compact MPV, because the performance did not meet the promises and fuel consumption was also somewhat high.

But now that we have tested this diesel engine, things change; we now see a more powerful engine, adapted to this type of car. In any case, the variant that sells the most, according to what Opel has told us, is the 110 hp diesel engine, with the same displacement as the 130 hp one but somewhat more rational. However, The Meriva is a car that seeks above all interior comfort, So we won't find sporty sensations or sporty behaviour, it is stable and quite well-balanced but it lacks agility as is normal.

We also found that it has an interesting starting price, since our test unit with all the optional equipment it was equipped with (navigator, for example) It had a price of around 20.000 euros, a good figure considering the type of car it is, engine and equipment.
